I'm exhibiting photographs in "Kaze to Tsuchi, Biwako in Takashima City" on for three days starting Nov 29 to Dec 1(Fri–Sun) at Gyokusenji temple where I've been taking photographs since 2006. There are about 50 artists mostly from Takashima-city exhibiting in a variety of spaces like their pottery studio, glass workshop, photo studio, farms and restored traditional farm houses. Please come and enjoy the scenery including the temple and scenery as well as my photographs. This year I’m focussing on a more immediate kind of photograph by using a small, waterproof camera I can take with me while I explore the landscape between Kyoto, Shiga and sometimes other places. The idea is to explore the connection between myself and my surroundings. I’m looking for impressions. These are made of light, texture, shadow and fleeting as the weather. These simple shots made with a camera kept in my jersey pocket on my back can overcome its humble form. These are like sketches or short poems made on the spot without thinking or planning which might lead to other photographs made with less portable equipment, giving this exhibition roots as well as branches for the central idea of my relationship with the landscape.
